Fines for Food! National Library Week 2022
National Library Week is traditionally when the Hoodland and Sandy Libraries would hold a food drive called Food for Fines. This year, we are holding Fines for Food. Between Sunday, April 3, and Saturday, April 9, when you make a payment on all or part of your overdue fines we will waive half the amount paid! Every payment made for overdue fines at the Hoodland Library will be donated to Neighborhood Missions and at the Sandy Library, payments will go to the Sandy Action Center.
Only overdue fees will be eligible for this event.

Tell us by posting to Instagram, Twitter, or on the I Love Libraries Facebook page. Use the hashtag #MyLibrary. We'll gather all the entries, and one randomly selected winner will receive a $100 Visa gift card. The promotion starts Sunday, April 3 at noon CT and ends on Saturday, April 9 at noon CT. Don’t forget to tag your library!

- Monday, April 4: State of America's Libraries Report released, including Top Ten Frequently Challenged Books of 2021.
- Tuesday, April 5: National Library Workers Day, a day for library staff, users, administrators, and Friends groups to recognize the valuable contributions made by all library workers.
- Wednesday, April 6: National Library Outreach Day (formerly National Bookmobile Day), a day to celebrate library outreach and the dedicated library professionals who are meeting their patrons where they are.
- Thursday, April 7: Take Action for Libraries Day, a day to rally advocates to support libraries.

Writers Wanted
We have a Writer's event for Teens and one for Adults!
Inked! Creative Writing Workshop for Teens - Do you have a passion for writing? Do you want to write a novel, but don't know where to start? This monthly creative writing workshop will teach you the craft of writing, what it takes to be a writer, and how to make your stories come to life. You will learn how to generate story ideas, craft believable characters, plot your way to a finished manuscript, and so much more. This class is open to everyone with a passion for the written word. Come prepared to write, think, and dream like a writer.
Do you enjoy writing? Are you looking to improve your current writing skills and be part of forming a supportive and enthusiastic writing community?
Join us in our community room for the start of a new writing group led by Gary Dohrer. Gary is a retired English professor with over 40 years of experience teaching writing and literature.
The writing group will meet every other Tuesday from 6:30 to 7:30 pm beginning March 22nd.

I also want to mention our neighbor... Slice of Heaven Farm, who supports us with donated seeds. While you won't find seeds to buy, you can sign up to be a CSA Member with Slice of Heaven. What's a CSA you ask? Community Sponsored Agriculture! You prepay the farmers so they can plant the crops that you will eat FRESHLY PICKED when they come into season. This is a bargain because you are not paying for long term storage, or veggies that have been transported around the world (and questionable farming practices), so the food is absolutely fresh and full of nutrients and the best taste for you and your family. YUM!!
