January News 2022

We invite you to our winter 2022 Reading Challenge! "Read for a Better World" encourages readers of all ages to explore diversity, empathy, and action through literature. Our community has unlimited access to Lerner’s “Read for a Better World” themed books for the month of January through the challenge activities!
We challenge our patrons to read at least 600 minutes during the month and keep track of their reading on our Beanstack site or through the Beanstack app for iPhone and Android.

Happy reading, Sandy and Hoodland Library communities!
From January 1 to January 31, Sandy and Hoodland Public Library are participating in Beanstack’s Fifth Annual Winter Reading Challenge, sponsored by Lerner Publishing Group.

P.S. There will be a prize drawing! One of our finishers will win a $50 gift card.
Each year libraries in Clackamas County look for help from local teens to design the Teen Summer Reading artwork. Young artists, ages 12-18, can submit their original artwork for this year’s theme: Read Beyond the Beaten Path.

The winning entry will receive a $100 cash prize and be used countywide on 2022 Teen Summer Reading materials.

Snow Day with the Library

We are staring down a week of snow and ice. As residents of the Portland area, this usually means everything stops. Here are a few things you can do with your library card while stuck at home. If you need a card, sign up for an ecard!

Learn how to sew with CreativeBug. I am currently in the middle of putting together the Flight Bag and have enjoyed the easy-to-follow videos. It includes a pattern to print at home! (Or print it through our mobile print service and pick it up at the library)

Or learn how to knit and help out with our drive "Comfort for Hospice"

Knitting Cast Ons - Debbie Stoller

eBooks / eAudiobooks

If you run out of books to read, try downloading one!

If you are in the mood to try learning a new program, or updating your resume with Learning Express or Career Accelerator.

We will be answering email! Let us know if you need help with your account, or if you have any questions. libraryassistants@ci.sandy.or.us
