Dear Gardeners and Farmers,
There are seeds that can be started indoors now (see attachment):
- Broccoli
- Cabbage
- Cauliflower
- Celery
- Eggplant
- Leeks
- Lettuce
- Peppers
- Scallions
- Tomatoes
- Tomatillos
Would you like to get inspired in your garden planning for this spring? Below is a list of some GREAT seed companies. They are supporters of our Sandy Seed Library so it would be nice if we support them too!
Adaptive Seeds - (Pacific Northwest Grown, Open Pollinated, and Organic Seed)
and, of course, you can always stop by our local Portland Nursery!
I also want to mention our neighbor... Slice of Heaven Farm, who supports us with donated seeds. While you won't find seeds to buy, you can sign up to be a CSA Member with Slice of Heaven. What's a CSA you ask? Community Sponsored Agriculture! You prepay the farmers so they can plant the crops that you will eat FRESHLY PICKED when they come into season. This is a bargain because you are not paying for long term storage, or veggies that have been transported around the world (and questionable farming practices), so the food is absolutely fresh and full of nutrients and the best taste for you and your family. YUM!!
