1. Park! Don't call while you are on the road, safety first. Walk-ups are fine too, just call when you are at the library!
2. Give us a call (503) 668-5537. We will ask for your card number, so be prepared. We will want to know where to set your items. Did you walk, did you drive, general location of where you are.
3. We will then check out your items and bring them to you with as little contact as possible.
4. We ask that you return items through one of the drops to minimize contact.
June “is busting out all over” and we may be soon “busting out” of Phase I. When we do, the Sandy Library is prepared to expand their services accordingly.
You may not know this, but it was the Sandy Library that initiated the plan to allow residents, during the shutdown, to not only reserve items, but to take out “hold” items owned by the Sandy Library. It was a successful program and drew the attention of other Clackamas County libraries. As of now almost all the county libraries are permitting their patrons to reserve in-house items.
Multnomah County Library also discovered the Sandy project and is now consulting with the Sandy Library on how to implement a similar program.
As supporters of the Sandy Library, we can be proud of the remarkable efforts of the director and staff in meeting the challenge of this long shutdown. Congratulations.
It’s been a long time since our BOOKNOOK volunteers have been at work prepping books for our many shelves. Like you, they’ve been “staying home” and working on various personal projects. Some find themselves with more time for their gardens; one lady is busy making masks. One of our volunteers is also a volunteer at the Guide Dogs for the Blind in Boring and now has more time to devote to that effort. Of course, as “book” people, most of us are also catching up on our reading!
One thing is certain…when the Library is open fully, the BOOKNOOK and its volunteers will be back, raring to go!
As soon as the Sandy Library has been advised and approved of expansion of its services when Phase II is implemented, we will report on extensions. Until then, remember that the Sandy Library continues to offer many on-line services as well as the ability to reserve Library held items.
