Gardening help

The Sandy Public Library needs your help to maintain our planter boxes and grounds!  This would be (most likely) a monthly event organized by a wonderful volunteer.  We are planning on replacing high-maintenance plants and moving towards becoming more bee-friendly, in coordination with the City's Bee City initiative.
If you are interested in helping out, please use the form to let us know!   https://forms.gle/N48aevAhC8MToLzq5

News from the BookNook

 June 14, 2021

It can be hard to believe, but it’s true:

We are back….come in and browse the

BOOKNOOK without reservations!

Our browsing hours correspond to Library hours (see below) and you pay Library staff as you check out.

It’s possible you may not have visited the BOOKNOOK/Library recently so we want you to know that you now enter the Library from the side door – not the Proctor entrance. You can check in your Library items as you enter; a BOOKNOOK drop box is also available by the side door entrance.  You will, however, exit by the front door.   Note that:

  • Face masks are still required unless you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (at least two weeks have passed since your final dose); and
  • You show your completed CDC COVID-19 vaccination record card to city staff

If you would rather not share your vaccination status, the Library is still happy to serve you – please use one of the masks provided, or the Library can help you outside.  (With Clackamas County now in lower risk status, check with the Library for any changes to this information.)

Here are browsing hours at the BOOKNOOK/Library:

Monday, Wednesday, Friday  1:00 pm - 5:00  pm                 Tuesday, Thursday        10:00 am - 2:00 pm
                           Saturday, Sunday           2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Yes, we’re back, but we need your help.  One of our devoted Tuesday BOOKNOOK volunteers has retired to spend more time with her family.  It’s a deep loss for our group and Deb will be sorely missed.  Right now we are seeking a volunteer who would be interested in assuming Deb’s projects.

The volunteer we are looking for would be able-bodied and can reach, bend and move as much as 20 to 25 lbs of books if needed.  Our regular work day is Tuesday from 9 am until finished (usually around 12 N).  Our volunteers should be able to work with others in small quarters.  Work stations are assigned and segments of the work assigned comes with the responsibility of working on such sections as Fiction, Non-Fiction, Children’s or Repair and Audio/Visual.  Each volunteer is expected to support others who find themselves overloaded in one category.

One important fact you should know is we have a supportive and generous group that has been together for years.  During those years many lasting friendships have been formed.  And a good sense of humor adds much to the atmosphere. We hope you’ll consider applying. Call Colleen Hoyt at 503.668.8623, or to sandyfoslbooks@gmail.com
