Make and Take: Day of the Dead

The Day of the Dead is a celebration that originated in Mexico, known as Día de los Muertos in Spanish.  It is a time for families to remember and celebrate loved ones who have died, traditionally by decorating the grave, creating altars in their memory, and sharing food the person would have enjoyed. Sugar skulls and and papel picado (cut paper banners) are some of the decorations that help make the holiday a celebration. Our Take and Make bags for October have instructions and materials for making a paper plate sugar skull and papel picado. We will have 25 kits available at Sandy and 10 available at Hoodland. Please come during our Curbside Pickup hours to get one while supplies last starting on October 15! For questions contact Monica Smith: msmith@ci.sandy.or.us
