Seed Library Survey

Dear Gardeners,

I would be very grateful if you would please fill out this form.  Your anonymous input will help guide the seed library to become even better than ever.  

As you choose your seeds from the cabinet drawers, keep in mind how many plants you intend to grow, and transfer that number of seeds to your own labeled envelope. I recommend taking 1-2 seeds for each plant.  For example, if you want to grow 4 bean plants, you might want to take 5-7 seeds.  The reason to take a few extra is to cover any seeds that may not be viable.  If you take the last seeds from a particular envelope, it is helpful if you put the plastic zipper bag in the "empty seed packet" box on top of the cabinet.  

Please be conservative and take only the amount of seeds you plan to grow now, and leave the remainder for others. There is no need to stockpile seeds because we continue to replenish our supply and they are all free to the community. 

The above are suggestions that help make the Sandy Seed Library a great experience for everyone.  You may add your own suggestions to the anonymous survey.

Curbside Services Hours

1. Place holds through the Library Catalog on items from any of the 13 libraries that are part of LINCC.

2. Once you have received notification that your holds have arrived:

For pickup at Sandy: 
Monday - Saturday: 10 am to 4 pm
Sunday: 12 pm to 4 pm

No appointment is needed.  Pull into one of the three numbered parking spaces designated for curbside.  Dial (503) 668-5537.  When you call, be prepared to provide your name and library card number.  Tell us which parking space you are parked in.  Staff will then bring out your items and place them on a nearby table.  Your items will be placed on a section of the table that corresponds with your parking space number.  Please wait in your parking space until staff have returned to the building.

For pickup at Hoodland: 
Monday 10 am to 2 pm,
Tuesday - Saturday 12 pm to 4 pm

No appointment is needed. Pull into a parking space at the library.  Dial (503) 622-3460.  When you call, be prepared to provide your name and library card number. Staff will give you a number that corresponds with a spot on a book cart outside the building.  Your items will be checked out and placed on that numbered spot on the book cart.  Please wait in your parking space until staff have returned to the building.

Vaccine Opportunities 1. Any Oregonian can register on the Get Vaccinated Oregon tool to receive county-specific vaccine opportunities. 2. Older adults can get assistance by texting ORCOVID to 898211 (English and Spanish only) or emailing ORCOVID@211info.org (language assistance available). 3. Pharmacies: Eligible Oregonians can begin making appointments directly at retailers’ websites. Appointments are very limited. Visit www.vaccinefinder.org for the most up-to-date list of pharmacy vaccine providers.

Spring Celebration

 

Welcome Spring with books, art, and a plant sale! The Sandy Library has teamed up with Sandy Garden Club, AntFarm, and Wy’East Artisans Guild, for a truly unique community event. Listen to music, get a library card, take home a craft, and purchase some plants. In an effort to make this event safe for all of our community members. We will be following COVID-19 protocols including masks and social distancing.

8:00 am The Sandy Garden Club’s annual plant sale begins. Proceeds benefit Sandy High School Scholarship Fund.

Noon Wy’east Artisans Guild’s artists will present free flower painting demonstrations and tutoring for anyone who would like to try painting a flower.

2:00 pm The Sandy Library will have Take & Make craft kits, a pop-up library, and the Sandy Seed Library.  Eclectic acoustic by Sandy musicians, Sharon Anne, Michel Gilbert, and friends.

National Child Abuse Prevention Month

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Todos Juntos will be at the Sandy Library to bring awareness and provide resources. Find more info HERE

We’re excited to partner with the Oregon Museum of Natural and Cultural History to bring you "Oregon's Dino-Story," a family program that will inspire learning and fun at home. Join us on our website through April to uncover mysteries about Oregon during the age of dinosaurs. Pick up a Dinosaur-themed Take-And-Make at the Sandy or Hoodland Public Library  Use our curbside service to pick up your kit starting April 15. Available while supplies last.
